In its eleventh year of competition, the SAL International Youth Cup (previously the Friendship Series) had all the intensity and excitement that spectators travel far to see. With selections into National teams pending, players gave 110% performances throughout the week long series.
The female competition was won by the Australian U19 Women's Green team who defeated the Australian U17 Girl's Development team in the tournament final by 7 runs to 0. Having only eight runs scored against them for the week, the Aussie Green side began the final confidently, scoring 4 runs in the first inning.
Two tough playoff matches for the U17s saw them win their way through to the final after defeating Adelaide Shores 5 -1, followed by the Aust U19 Gold team in a tight tie-breaker by 4 - 3. The U17 winning streak came to an end, when the defense of their older rivals kept them scoreless in the final.

Long time softball supporters, Blacktown Mayor, Alan Pendleton and Councillor, Jacqueline Donaldson attended the presentation ceremony to congratulate the winners and runner's up on their performances.

Celebrity couple, Polly and Waz from "The Block 2011' entertained the large crowd with their witty commentary during the Final and later presented medals to the individual award winners.
