Canberra team, Namadgi Dragons, overcame all obstacles to win the Men’s division of the International Youth Cup.
Required to play three games on the final day’s play, they accounted for NSW Men’s Metro and NZ Men’s Development on their way to winning a grand final showdown against Western Civil 6-2.
Western Civil got to a two run lead heading into the bottom of the 4th, before Jarrod Bradbury batted in three runs from a double to centre-left. Bradbury himself was scored off the bat of Aussie Colts, Aaron Whitefield, as the Dragons swung the game in their favour.
Bradbury once again led the charge hitting a homerun in the bottom of the 6th to all but seal the game. On the mound, another of the Aussie Colts, Marshall Kronk, controlled the game finishing with just two hits and nine strike outs.
The Aussie Colts team will head into a training camp over the weekend as they put their final preparations in place before departing for Argentina to try and claim their 5th consecutive Junior Men’s World Championship title.
