North Shore have won their third consecutive Open Women's State Championship, defeating Sutherland 2-1 in the 2012 Final.
In a big weekend of softball at BISP, eleven of the State's best women's teams competed in the 2012 Open Women's State Championship.
The two powerhouses of the female ranks, North Shore and Sutherland won their way through to the Championship Final, each having only one run scored against them.
Coming from a bronze medal winning performance at the recent World Championships, pitchers Kaia Parnaby(NS) and Zara Mee(SS) were in top form as the final progressed.
Sutherland scored in the third inning when Clare O'brien crossed the plate after a cracking triple by Amy Hayes. The Sutherland girls maintained their 1-0 lead until the top of the 7th, when North Shore scored two runs from a double by Rachael Sechi and singles by Katherine McVeity and Jess Meyer. This late charge by North Shore won them the 2012 State Open's Title for the third consecutive year, 2 runs to 1.
