Competitions
Competition plays a vital role in the preparation of our national teams in maintaining Softball's ranking as the number 1 nation in the world. The national teams compete regularly in the ISF World Championships that are held every 2 years and the Olympic Games until recently when Softball was withdrawn from the Olympics. Other international events just as significant for development purposes include the World University Games, Canada Cup and Japan World Cup.
National events play a significant role in producing potential players of the future and feature prominently on the Softball calendar. They include the Australian Championships, International Friendship Series, International Challenge Series, Australian Schoolgirls Championships and Australian University Games. Master sport encourages 30+ years' participants to continue their long term involvement in sport by providing a number of opportunities in multisport event that rivals only the Olympics for participant numbers. Master's events include:
- World Masters Games
- Gold Coast Pan Pacific Games
- Australian Masters Games
- Alice Springs Masters Games
Member States host a number of senior and junior events to provide additional development and selection opportunities that compliment the national events; these include the ACT Skins, Brisbane Classic, Southern Cross Challenge, SA Junior Labour Day Tournament, Victorian Waverley Easter Junior Tournament and the ACT Australia Day Junior Carnival.
