Tracey began playing Softball for South Australia at Under 16 level. She continued to represent South Australia through the junior ranks and made her senior debut before playing at Under 19 level. Tracey represented Australia at the 1991 Junior World Championship. From 1992-1995, she played Softball for Oklahoma City University. There, she became a 3 time All American and in 1994 was awarded Most Valuable Player. Tracey played in the National Championships in 1994 and 1995, winning both. She made her senior Australian debut in 1992 before travelling to China. Tracey was a member of the Australian team from 1992-1996 and although she did not play in the 1996 Olympic Games, she made a comeback to the Australian team in 2002 and was part of the Olympic Team at both the Athens and Beijing Olympic Games winning silver and bronze medals.
